About the Denobi Awards – with co-founders Melissa Turner and Sonya Dunbar
The Denobi Awards is an annual program and red-carpet event that was created to honor and recognize unsung heroes in dentistry around the world. Over the last four years, this prestigious award ceremony has become an essential part of the dental community and dubbed “the Oscars of Dentistry.” The Denobi Awards was established to celebrate our dental colleagues and clinical teams who are making a positive impact in the here and now, acknowledging their dedication to moving the industry into a bright future.
As co-founders, we’re thrilled to say The Denobi Awards has grown into one of the most significant dental events in the country and our favorite time of the year! Each March, the award gala brings attendees from around the country (and beyond) and is featured in the dental media and press. At the gala, ten winners and one dental team are announced live on stage. The awards ceremony is a powerful and emotional evening for many and a great way to network, learn about the latest trends, and celebrate the accomplishments of your colleagues.
Though most people know of the Denobi Awards, they may not know the why behind it. When we first came up with the idea, our vision was to create a program that celebrated all roles within all corners of the industry! Winners are not just dentists or clinicians, instead winners are educators, CEOs, founders, editors, innovators, advocates and more. If you have a role in the industry, you can be nominated.
We also envisioned a way to celebrate outstanding clinical teams as they are the heart and soul of everything the industry does. Without our frontline workers, and the dental practice owners and management teams that support them, our profession would not be able to craft the impact we make in the lives of our communities and patients. For that, we thank all dental teams!
We’re proud to invite you to the upcoming 2024 gala which will take place on March 2, 2024 in Dallas, Texas. The evening culminates with the giving of the highest honor, the Dr. Lou Shuman Pinnacle Achievement Award, which is named after the pinnacle award’s inaugural recipient.
We’re also excited to announce a new award has been added for the 2024 gala – the Rising Star Award. This is in collaboration with the Speaking Consulting Network (SCN) and recognizes dental professionals who are early in their careers and are working towards making a significant and positive impact.
Nominations for the 2024 Denobi Awards are open from October 1-December 31, with a shortlist of nominees released in January.
