Discover how APDP has been empowering dentists for decades
As the acting president of APDP, I’m thrilled to introduce you to an organization that’s been supporting private dental practices for over six decades. Our journey began in 1957 in Chicago under the name American Association of Dental Practice Administrators. A group of forward-thinking dentists gathered with a shared vision: to discover the best ways to run a small dental business, provide top-notch care to patients, and positively impact their communities. Today, while dentistry has evolved, APDP remains true to its original mission – now with a name that better reflects who we are and what we stand for.
“What does APDP mean to me? It means a lifetime of fellowship, connection, support and education. To be associated with high caliber, like-minded dentists nationwide means I have a quality professional network. It has created a dental career trajectory that otherwise would not have been.”
Dr Julie Spaniel
So, what do we do?
As someone deeply invested in the success of our members, I can confidently say that APDP is here to support you at every stage of your career in private practice. Whether you’re fresh out of dental school, feeling the weight of student loans, or you’re a seasoned professional navigating the ever-changing landscape of dentistry, APDP is your partner in success. We know that dentistry today comes in all shapes and sizes – from corporate setups to federal healthcare centers to good old-fashioned private practice. And we understand that the decision to start your own practice is a big one. That’s why we’re all about mentoring, supporting, and collaborating with dentists as they pursue their unique paths.
At APDP, we don’t just help you become a better dentist – we help you become a better leader, a better business owner, and a better community member. Our members learn from each other, from our incredible speakers, and from our connected consultants, gaining skills that will serve them for life.
From long time member Dr. Sarah Heuer –
I was invited to my first Academy for Private Dental Practice meeting by my mentor, Dr. William Gregg. Dr. Gregg was my teacher at the Pankey Institute. At the time, I was inspired by the clinical and personal growth I was experiencing. I had just finished my last continuum and was looking for the next steps in my journey.
I loved my first meeting and found a supportive community. APDP is focused on business, leadership and culture. It is a unique organization in dentistry that supports private practice dentistry. It is so fun to network with leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, and business owners. The meetings feature something different than the usual dental meeting: speakers from the dental world as well as the business world.
APDP has really been instrumental in shaping who I am as a dentist, a practice owner, and a person. I would encourage dentists to attend one of APDP’s special meetings.
